This used to be my "playground"...... my creative space. It's a corner in our bedroom and all my stash was stored around in different drawers and closets. It never felt like a sewing space or a calm bedroom, so I decided to take action.... (we all know that means - sweet hubby got a bit construction work to do....)
This last week has been spent moving everything out of their place into boxes and stashed in our livingroom ..... Then putting large IKEA closets together.... They are a bit difficult to manouevre when you only got half an inch to the ceiling from the top of the closet.
So, this is what the same corner looks like now, and the other end, is our sleeping area. The whole room is a lot more tranquil and no more fabricpices all around..... And that is basically it....
Of course, I'll show you the inside .......
My new sewing space is inside a 100 cm wide closet. Under the shelf were my sewing machine is, I've used a slim drawer for my cutting mats, rulers, pins and everything else I need within easy reach... My stool is very comfortable, and best of all, I can put it under the working space when I'm finished and just close the doors...... These are my new organized stashkeepers, two 50 cm wide closets with shelfs and drawers, on either side on the workingspace, and three shelves over the workingspace as well.
I have papered the backwall of my sewing space, with wallpaper from Laura Ashley. I'm quite pleased with the result. I get to have a romantic theme without bothering anyone....
This working area is a bit more secluded than before, on the other hand, everything looks tidy and there is a place for everything......

Summertime
Summer is here.
For us the summer is incomplete without a visit to the summerhouse.
The feel of a sunwarmed livingroom, when we open the door. That first morning when we step out the back door, and feel the long grass beneath our feet. The morning swim, nothing gives you a head straight like that, the cool water against bedwarm skin... The sound of the boats passing by and the seagulls saying good morning...... Early mornings, and everything goes in slow motion. The days are long, the nights are longer, the sun never really doesn't seem to let go. This is the season to enjoy a long breakfast - every day
Scandinavian summers have a coolnes to them, that can't be found elsewhere. The soul this season brings, is like no other I've ever encountered..... Even the great scandinavian painters let the soul of this season inspire them.
There is time to read, time to eat ice cream, time to play, time to swim and time to just be. Let the sun keep you warm, and feel the happiness tickle you. Feel the warm sand on your toes.....
The time to create is also here. Take it with you. "To relax is to do something else...." Let the season inspire you; The colours, the sounds, the smells and the food.
This is still a few weeks away for me, but I'm preparing myself. What books should I read? What sewing projects do I want to bring? Which stories am I going to read to the girls? There is a lot to consider.....

Have a lovely day

Child's Play
These last few days have been astonishingly warm.... If my sources are correct Oslo was the warmest city in Europe on Friday. I can live with that....
In her own pink world she reads a lot of books - mysteries are a favorite. She sings, and draw, holds court - the other girls in our neighbourhood, there is no doubt who reigns around here....
But when the job is done she is our adorable girl, who like to be read to and cuddle up in the sofa to watch a movie with mum - "Harry Potter is so cute..."
At some point they both wanted chandeliers. Well to be correct, my oldest wanted one, and so the youngest one desided that she should have one too. Since no one had the kind they wanted, I had to make them. They were very pleased, and the chandeliers are appearantly a favourite to both of them....

Pillow Talk
Well, here we are again, and a whole week has gone by. Time really does fly...
In February I came to the decision that my mother needed new cushions for the living room. I was quite pleased with the result... More importantly, she liked them a lot...
Little did I know that this would put me into a pillow frenzy. For the last couple of months , every time I see a fabric or something else I like, I immediately think "I can turn that into a pillow.. "
This last weekend I finished up 3 pillows and began on an another 2. Am not quite sure what to do with them all, but never mind... I'm having fun right now... Let's not worry about tomorrow....
The pattern for this pillow, of which I'm making two, I have borrowed from Laura Ashley. I turned it into Girlpirates - there are too many princesses in this world....

Inspiration
So where do you find inspiration?
My primary source is interior magazines. I always rip out the pages or pictures with colour schemes I like. I buy A LOT of magazines, there is always something new; colours or patterens I never would imagined could work together.
An unexpected fabric combination can really set me off. Serendipity is always welcome....
The changes in season is always inspiring and can really boost my creativity. Something new, something fresh, or just the need for darker colours when summer fades into a late fall....
Other people's homes can also be inspiring. The pictures below are details from my sister's flat. The purity and simplicity of the interior made me go looking for similar fabrics to create that same delicate feeling.
