Wrapping it up.......

This is my last WISP of this month........
It's a Christmas tablerunner I started on in 2005 :o) - now it can be used for this year's Christmas.

I was planning on finishing my Disappearing Ninepatch quilt as well, but due to a three year old with a serious cold and a slight fever - that did not happen. I will not give up though - it's still on my list for the next thing to do :o) All it needs is quilting!!

The tablerunner is made from leftover strips from a Fatquarter quilt I made at the same time - that of course is not finished either....

I am already making plans for what to do with my other WISPs;
A list will be made, and it will contain all of the WISPs I find realistic to finish.
( You do know that it is allowed to throw away WISPs/UFOs, if you are certain that they will never come to anything after all....? )
Before the end of each month I must finish at least one WISP.....
I also realize that I don't have the largest amount WISPs - so for me this will be doable. The thing is that I found it very motivating to compete with my own goals, and knowing that other was doing the same made it inspiring......

I have quilted in-the-ditch and added an extra seam to the middle of each strip. This pattern can also be found in Tove Fevang's book
"Lappeteknikk - slik gjør du det" ("Patchwork - how to do it")
It's a very easy pattern, and that makes it fun to do. It can be as calm and clean or busy and colourful as you choose - it's all in the choice of fabrics.....

Hope you all are having your sewing, knitting, scrapping, stitching ready here in the south and east of Norway ;-D - "Tuva" is on her way....

All the best to all of you :o)

January Challenge - Three more done.....

This morning I did the last stitches on this pillow - which means I have completed three more WISPs. This is so cool!!! I plan to make a list on February 1st to sum up the rest of my WISPs and what to do with them...

Now this blue pillow has a pink companion.....
I think they go very well together :o)

The Advent Calendars are also finished. This is the Winnie the Pooh version for my youngest, with Tigger and lots of gifts. One of the trees has red berries on its branches, the other one has a pearl star on top.....

The point of making Calendars for Advent instead Christmas, is that they (the Pygmees) get more than enough stuff as it is. I also try to advocate the lesson to wait and wish for something, and then maybe..... So my DDs gets one present each of the Advent Sundays before Christmas - it also makes the whole calendar thing a lot more easy - for me.......

This is the completed Advent Calendar with appliqué from Tilda for my oldest. The reindeer has red berries and twigs in its antler. There are bells on his collar.

So here they are, my latest accomplishments on the WISP side.

Happy sewing, and wish you all a sunny week!!

January Challenge - one down.....

My Red&White Tablerunner is finshed!!!
When I'm doing several projects intensively, like I am for the time beeing - it seems like I never will see the end of it. Apparently there is an end - within reach too.

The quilting is done in-the-ditch and by freehand on the middle section.
I think it compliments the fabric quite well.....

I chose to sew the tabelerunner together in-side-out before quilting it and then, instead of using binding, I sewed on lace for a finishing touch.....
I have my other WISPs lined up - so I should, hopefully, see the end of them during this week and weekend.

Just to add some pressure on myself I've decided to finish one more thing by the end of January. This will be the sister to the pillow I made in October.

I never set out to win this challenge;
#1 I'm working TOO SLOW
#2 It occured to me that I don't have enough UFOs/WISPs
(due to #1 - even over years...)
But I did want to see if I could bind myself to a month of finishing unfinished buisness........ I must say that bringing something to an end is very motivating and I enjoy it tremendously!!!!

Happy sewing to you all :o)

January Challenge Update

This has gone a little slower than I anticipated.... Migraine is clearly to blame!!!
Well, I've sewn together all the blocks of my "Disappering Ninepatch" Quilt, and are now ready for the border. I'm very pleased with the fabric I got, it was the last of it - just enough for me....

Even though I'm not finished with this one, I will show you the next projects I plan to finish.

Remember this??
I split up this UFO,well - there were actually two of them, and turned them from Christmas Calendars into Advent Calendars.

They turned out like this, but I didn't manage to finish it before Christmas. They did work though.... Every Advent Sunday before Christmas a gift appeard in the girls' Calendars - imagine that.... They now need quilting and binding!!

I had to cut off the patchwork part, and it turned into a tablerunner. Yet another WIPS, but I want it ready for next Christmas, so I thought I'd finish it now :o)
It needs cutting, quilting and binding!!

This is a tablerunner I made two years ago, suppose it has merged into an UFO...
I made a Turning Twenty Quilt, which still isn't finished, and made the tablerunner from the leftovers.... It needs quilting and binding!!

Seems like I will be spending a lot of time sewing this week.....
Happy sewing to you all!!! :o)

Taking on a challenge

I'm kind of leaping into the New Year, pretending to be courageous ;-D

I never make new year resolutions on bare principle!
That's just someting I don't do!
I just do my best, hopefully a bit better each time. The process, not the goal is my path - one step at the time. Apparently I'm ready to go outside my comfortzone, just peaking around the corner...

I'm taking on May Britt's WISP (work in slow progression) challenge to finish as many WISP before January 31st. My first WISP project is the last one I started on in 2007 - The disappering Ninepatch.

I will list my finshed WISP's in the right colum, and post about them as we progress in January. This is very encouraging - so many of us working to finish old projects in order to begin new ones in February!! The satisfaction of decluttering :o)

Here's to us all, for tying up loose ends and exploring our possibilities!
