Sommer......

klem, Yvonne

Due to the fact that I have already left home for some sunny days with my family, there will now be a blog-break. We will be spending some time here in the mountains and a few days in Bergen......

I have brought with me my ninepatch blanket for some handquilting (*OMG*)
it actually might work......

I have also brought the book above, "white embroidering on white" it seems like it has lots of goodies in it ;-D When it comes to the mussels, I could easily live on that throughout the summer......

I wish you all a great summer!!!

Hugs from Yvonne

En er ferdig.....

Her er mitt første bidrag til "Finish five by end of July" challengen hos Peg :o)

This is my first finish project for Challenge"finish five by end of July" at Peg's place :o) I do hope it qualifies, since the only thing needed to be done was the binding ;-D The quilt has been sitting in my closet for three years, so I neede a challenge to get it out and done!!! :o)

Finnaly minime1 get to use her quilt, which I promised her when I made the
"Hundred Acre Woods" quilt for minime2 ;-D

Above you se a glimps of the next project I'm taking on :o) This is the "Dissappearing ninepatch" quilt I started last year. I got a bit bored with it and needed a break, but now it's time to finish it!!

Anne Ida visited yesterday and kindly helped me to gathere the layers togther.
We (well, she mostly) also drew a quiltig patterns on the one-pathches.
If you look closely, you can see some pencli-lines creating four meeting hearts.
I think this might have potential.....

Ha en strålende uke i bloggland.
Klem fra Yvonne

Have a wonderful week in blogland!

Oppfordringen er å ta den nærmeste boken, slå opp på side 123, finne den 5. setningen, og blogge de tre neste setningene; Jeg leser " The Vineyard" av Barbara Delinsky: "In his years at the helm, he had produced one remarkable vintage after another. Carl would know what to do now. He was definitely the one to call."

I have been tagged by Rita (some time ago...!) and am supposed to do the following:

Pick up the nearest book, in my case: "The Vineyard" by Barbara Delinsky.
Open on page 123.- Find the fifth sentence.- Post the next three sentences: "In his years at the helm, he had produced one remarkable vintage after another. Carl would know what to do now. He was definitely the one to call."

This is my latest creation, a stars and stripes pillow, I just had to make one.....
As almost everything I sew, this one is made for someone else..... I think it's about time I make a couple of these for me too :o)

Fryktelig smertefult!!!

Today I got reunited with my running shoes. We have had an involentary separation for a forthnight due to a herniated disc in my back...... Life just stops when that happens and I look like I'm 90 years old and in desperately need of a cane..... This happens to me on occasion ;-D Ever had the pleasure???? Awfully painful!!!

Yesterday evening I was at a customer sale at NOA NOA....
Like a spur of the moment kind of thing..... I went home with a few new items, but my favourite is the top and cardigan I bought for mini me 2 she adores purple...
Another thing is the tags they have on the clothes (above), I can buy anything just to get one of them....

To ensure seam progression this summer I have joined Peg's " Finish five (quilts) by the end of July" challenge. I have a few items to work on - hopefully I get to finish some of them....Stay tuned!! The fabric belov is what I play with and look at these days, hoping they will, at some point, develop into something great ;-D

Søndags klemmer fra meg til dere :o)

Sunday hugs from me to you :o)

Yesterday I discovered that a family member was having her confirmation today. There is only one thing to do in a situation like this - dig out the sewing machine and take a littel visit to the jewler...... So listening to the eastern Europe having a ball at the Eurovision song contest I embroidered this monogram.

A card, there must be a card! So I made that as well. I probably work better under pressure than I imagined.....

Here is the monogram again, this time on a little make-up bag. I admit to stealing the fabric combination. I saw a make-up bag with these exact fabrics. And I had to make it, beacause it was the perfect gift - hope to be forgiven...... :o)

Everything has a backside, this little make-up bag as well. The lace is a bit tricky to sew, and I had to replace a button by hand since the machine kept crushing them.....

Ha en fortsatt strålende søndags kveld.....

Have a wonderful Sunday evening....

Som bestilt.........

Johoooo to bestillinger....

Yohoooo I've got two orders....
A little while back I got an order for one of my shawls :o) It is now ready for delivery - which is sometime next week......... Love the colours, they are so delicate and state that summer is here.....

I have also custom made one of my tea-towels, which was delivered yesterday. Got a lovely message today that she was very pleased with it :o) This is so much fun...

Some friends of us have to adorable duaghters and they celebrated their birthdays in March/April. Did we manage to get them anything - of course not..... But now I have finished their gifts, both with monograms. So all I have to do now, is to put in all the goodies girls of 3 and 4 years love........

Ønsker alle innbyggere i blogglandia en riktig god helg :o)

Wish all the inhabitans of Bloglandia a very good weekend :o)

Tekniske dubeditter og hemmlighetskremmeri......

Her ser dere bilde av min trofaste arbeidshest.

This is my Ol' faithful. It always delivers, even when I put it under a lot of pressure and workload...

This is where it lives - the cave of creativity. It's always surrounded by the primary source of creativity - child drawings, here donated by my two daughters. If this isn't love...... The observant reader will spot the PAX closet from IKEA - where would the world be WHITOUT IKEA??

On occasion it surprises me with new and undiscovered talents I didn't know about. Like today for instance, when I found out it could sew automatic buttonholes and sew the buttons for me.... I probably should have read the manual more carefully ;-D. I can't stand sewing those things, but this new discovery was fantastic and now buttonholes and buttons are all joy and fun!!!

Her ser dere litt hemmelighetskremmeri....

Here's a bit of secrecy ....... You will have to wait to see the rest ;-D. On the picture below you also catch a glimpse of what I've been doing with my spare time. Wait and you will see......

Ønsker alle en riktig god uke :o)

Wish you all the best for the coming week :o)

I wish you all a very happy Easter!! Until now it has been sunny, it would be nice if it continued like that, both in the city and in the mountains...

Earlier this month both my sister and my mother had their birhtdays :o) For my sister I made this little stringbag in wool (shown above), and inside was this necklace....

For my mother I made this rather large stringbag, inside were several small woolen bags with lavender in them :o)

Tomorrow is my birthday, hooray!!!
I turn 35 ;-D apperantly time flies.....
I have always liked birthdays, especially my own (lol...). They are important and should always be celebrated one way or the other, that day is your day only!!! Everyone should get a day off from work on their birthday.....

God påske!!

Happy Easter!!

Pompadour

Lately I have made a lot of these bags. They are fairly easy to make which makes it fun. This one belongs to my youngest daughter. Her favourite colour is purple. She chose the fabrics and the pictures herself :o) I sewed it while she was watching - big hit, and Wham! - it was done..... success!!

I have used lace and a velvet ribbon in addition to the picture. You can use almost anything when decorating, and decorate both front and back sides as well ;-D I have only dressed the front of the bag :o)

I really love all those nostalgic pictures you can get everywhere. I put them in the scanner and transfer them to fabric, so I can use them in my sewing projects :o)

These two I have made for me. Thought I might use them in the kitchen, to put things in or just let them accessorizing the room. I have considered if I should make more of these an put them up for sale on my blog ;-D Would that be of interest to you??

Wishing you all a happy weekend, I leave you with this picture of my sister's cat. If anyone knows how to live life to the fullest it's that cat....... Enjoy!

Symappen min...... : My sewing bag......

I always tend to make something for others, but never for myself. Anyone recognise themselves?? Why is that?? We select beautiful materials, put our soul into it - and then we give it away..... It has to be the principle of "just who do you think you are?" bound together with a woman's ability to have a bad concience about - well, everything; "there is always someone who needs it more" so we don't deserve it.

For once I chose to believe in the L'Oreal's slogan - beacause I deserve it!! I have wanted my own sewing bag for a loooong time, a lot of others have them, some have even more than one......

So now I have made this for myself, just the way I wanted it. My sole was in it and I used the fabrics and colours that made me happy right there and then :o)

Ønsker dere alle en riktig god uke :o)

Wish you all a great week :o)

Nye ting : New stuff

DSCF7014_edited-1

Happy Valentine's day everyone!!!
Thanks for all your wonderful comments while my DH was travelling!!!! He is home now, safe and sound, but I must admit it was very good to get a few days to myself and be able to recognise the fact that I missed him, but still managed just fine :o)

DSCF7027_edited-1

DSCF7026_edited-1

This is a book cover I made a couple of weeks a go, while attending a sewing class. It fits several booksizes, and comes in very handy as I always have a book with me, travelling on the tube

DSCF7015_edited-1

DSCF7021_edited-1

I am the lucky owner of no less than three embroidery scissors, but nothing to keep them in. So I decided that I needed to sew one. Well, it turned into three, all different, and since I didn't have a pattern I had to make it as I went along.....

DSCF7034_edited-1

DSCF7041_edited-1

While at it, I also made some napkin rings. I've thought about it for a long time, but since I was without any disturbances these last few days I finally got around to test out my idea.....

DSCF7025

The days are longer and getting brighter, wish you all a lovely weekend!

A bit of everything.....

Yesterday I ordered the latest book from Amy Butler: Midwest Modern.

I loved her previous book, In Stitches - I haven't gotten around to sew anything from it yet, but I read in it all the time... The pictures and colours are spirit lifters, and these days I really need that.

Early last month I took on a commision to sew four curtains and two Roman Blinds, boy do I regret this..... Then again, as the stubborn gal I am, I threw myself at the task today, not knowing where it will take me.... Emotionally I'm a wreck...

Do you remember how it was when doing your homework was somthing you really didn't want to do...... and then you used all your time to avoid it... or worse, doing it sloppy and having to do it all over again??? That's my state of mind.... I keep hoping my state will improve.....

Allright, enough with the whining.....

For the newest member of our family, I've made a vintage-teddy blanket. Her name is Pernille, she is my husband's niece, and was born in August.

I still have the batting and binding to do, but I wanted to show it to you now...

The teddy's faces are hand stitched... The pattern is from the book "Applikasjoner" by Tove Fevang

A week ago I found this tutorial for a different way to use a ninepatch...
This will be my next project, hopefully I can start sewing very soon, just have to overcome the curtains..... I have picked out the fabric though.....

I'm off to the curtain sewing, wishing you all a wonderful weekend.... See you at the other end....

Winnie the Pooh.......

Finally - I have completed the Hundred Acre Woods quilt for my three year old. As you all suspected - she loves it and is thrilled with it. She uses it whenever she sits on the couch watching Disney - If it was up to her, that would be all the time....

She is overly facinated by all and everything that has to do with The Hundred Acre Woods and the tales of Winnie the Pooh...

She discovered him at the age of 10 months..... We were tidying her sister's room and she sat in her chair watching - then suddely she started a commotion like nothing we've ever heard. Nothing we tried would do - then we realised she was staring at the Pooh sitting on top of her sister's bookshelves..... Needless to say she was exstatic when she got it. She can not be without him....

This Sunday has been a foggy and windy day. We had some friends with their children on a visit :o) For a greater part of the afternoon, the dads took their girls, all three, to the nearby playground - where they had a blast....
When they got back I had made these.....

A chore for me this evening is to go through as many of these magazines as I can. I seem to accumulate these in bundles. Anyone else who has great piles of magazines taking over the bedroom and the livingroom???

Luckily I can work through them while wathcing a sunday movie ;-D Some of them I hold on to for a year - the rest of them - I take out the articles that interest me and put them in bound portfolios.

I have always enjoyed organising, so there are several of these books in my shelves. They take considerably less space than the loads of magazines - and really - there are usually only a few articles or photos that catch my attention......

This picture is from my walk yesterday. The light was perfect and for a few moments the wind didn't blow.....

Whish you all a wonderful week :o)

My favourite season....

Autumn is my favourite season!
The fresh and cool air in the morning, when the sun peaks through the treetops and makes the sky look crispy blue. To me, autumn is as much a feeling and a state of mind as it is the third seeason of the year.

The thing that I love about autumn is that it's both an end and a beginning at the same time....

It's the end of summer, but it's not only a transition, it has its own temperament and strength. The thing is that it sums the whole year up into one season!! The beginnings I'm talking about are school and the life in general resuming after a loooooong break during summer. Autumn brings: New clothes, new friendships, new possibilities. The feeling of purchasing new pencils and opening new books - glorious!!!

The days shift rapidly during this season; one day is sunny and fresh, the next is moist and foggy. Those are the days when going out gives you the ulitimate experince. The fog is like a veil through the trees, the air is feelig slightly colder. You can smell the lit fireplaces, and given the day, the rain can blow in all directions causing leafs to whirl around you as you take a walk. The daylight is loosing its place as darkness takes over and nights are instanly getting longer.

As the day gets shorter, the temprature drops, the trees lose their leaves and nature is preparing for an extended sleep, winter comes crawling - almost unnoticed....The days are turning into gray, shades of white yellow and pink - frost covers the ground and makes everything quiet and still. Then one morning - winter arrives, and the silence is complete.....

While speaking of autumn - and I always associate Pooh with autumn, trees faling down becuase of the wind, Piglet flying as a kite, and Owl drinking tea while his house is crumbling - I haven't been able to finish the Winnie the Pooh quilt yet...... where did the time go..... I'm sure, though, that I'm getting there..... I have a very impatient 3 year old!! I only have the quilting and bindig part left.... Here is a little preview

Wish you all a fabulous weekend!!!!

Tilda

I had a request from, Celine, if I had made anything from Tilda.
Did you know that in France they have their own Tilda addicts group??? How cool is that???? Of course I have made a few things from Tilda over the past YEARS.....lol..... Who can resist????? ;-D

This teapot warmer is one of the items I made several of...... The one above belongs to my sister..... Made true to Tilda design and colour....

My mother-in-law own these two; one for the mountain cabin and one for the boat....... None of them are therefore made in *traditional* Tilda colours.... I adjusted them to fit their surroundings...

I made this sheep, wash cloths with Tilda rabbit faces, and the bag they're in for a friend when she had her first child in 2004.

When I saw these slippers in her latest book, I just had to make them.... The first pair ( left) was just to try out the pattern, the second pair (right) belongs to my sister .... yes those too :o)... I had some leftover tweed from a purse I made, so I decided to make them with that. Very pleased with them....

This is the firs Tilda item I made - It's from Tone Finnanger's book;
Tilda's Christmas (Tildas Jul).

I thought these snowmen were so cute and adorable..... I plan to use them for a christmas picture.... It's been put away for years.... maybe this year.....

This is a Christmas calendar I've been sewing for my oldest daughter..... for the last two years...... not all my projects finish..... I think this qualifies as an UFO??...... This year I hope to finish it!!! I have made a few other Tilda things as well, but I don't have any pictures to show......

This is Tone Finnager's new Tilda book. It will be available for purchase in October..... yiipppppiiii

Have a wonderful weekend every one......

Marimekko

Hello - anybody there???

The week before this, was a foggy one - somehow I managed to catch a cold....... and we all know what that means...... no brainfunction, a sore throat, running nose, the head feels like a balloon..... Well, I'm all better now :o)

Let's talk about something more fun......

In June I made this Roman blind in Marimekko fabric, for some friends of mine. I resently got some pictures of it, so I thought I'd show them to you.

I'm very pleased with it, thankfully so are my friends ;-D . This really gave their kitchen that finishing touch...

I always find it challenging to sew the dowel-pockets that runs broadwise- straight... It looks like I managed just fine....... :O)

I've made these two wedding cards, I was asked to make them for a friend of a friend......

So what else have I been up to???

I have started on the Hundred Acre Woods blanket for my three year old.... here's a sneak peek...

All the drawings are now replaced by appliquéd versions of the residents ....... I hope she likes it, you never know in that age, and they are quite frank about it too...lol... I'll show you the rest when its finshed
;-D
Wish you all a wonderful week!!!!!

Where I create.......

This used to be my "playground"...... my creative space. It's a corner in our bedroom and all my stash was stored around in different drawers and closets. It never felt like a sewing space or a calm bedroom, so I decided to take action.... (we all know that means - sweet hubby got a bit construction work to do....)

This last week has been spent moving everything out of their place into boxes and stashed in our livingroom ..... Then putting large IKEA closets together.... They are a bit difficult to manouevre when you only got half an inch to the ceiling from the top of the closet.

So, this is what the same corner looks like now, and the other end, is our sleeping area. The whole room is a lot more tranquil and no more fabricpices all around..... And that is basically it....

Of course, I'll show you the inside .......

My new sewing space is inside a 100 cm wide closet. Under the shelf were my sewing machine is, I've used a slim drawer for my cutting mats, rulers, pins and everything else I need within easy reach... My stool is very comfortable, and best of all, I can put it under the working space when I'm finished and just close the doors......

These are my new organized stashkeepers, two 50 cm wide closets with shelfs and drawers, on either side on the workingspace, and three shelves over the workingspace as well.

I have papered the backwall of my sewing space, with wallpaper from Laura Ashley. I'm quite pleased with the result. I get to have a romantic theme without bothering anyone....
This working area is a bit more secluded than before, on the other hand, everything looks tidy and there is a place for everything......

A bit of everything.....

One of the few sunsets this season, the boat belongs to my in-laws...

This has been a strange summer...... Nothing like the summer I expected; long days in the sun, taking the girls to the park, ice cream, sewing when the girls were playing, going to the mountains, go camping - just spending time together..... We did spend time together - way too much of it...... Is it possible to get a Disney overdose???

I have managed to get a little sewing done, but it has been slow.... These are the three first blocks of my summer project. I'm almost finished with the fourth also... ;-D This is English paperpiecing, so it's learning by doing - man, I'm learning these days!!!

My handsewing in detail.... as I said learning by doing.... I really enjoy sitting with it, but my attention has been very divided. There has been birthdays to bake for and cardmaking for a friend...

My three year old wanted a chocolate bear cake, so I made one. It was a big hit with the other children at the birthday party as well.
